Whence is it called Genesis? ספר יצירה בראשית, 1. The Author of it is Moses. Did he write before or after his calling? By tradition or special inspiration? 2. Moses was the parent and golden channel of All the Sacred Writers. The argument of this book elicited, 3. It’s scope is to relate the beginnings of nature and of grace, 4. The Chronology of Genesis is interwoven, 5. It’s parts according to the Parashot, Sedarim, and material are principally three. I. The History of the origin of all things (chapters 1, 2). II. The History of the former world (chapters 3-7). III. The History of the later world under the Patriarchs (chapters 8-50). A Synoptic Table and the Interpreters of the Book, Ancient, Reformed, Lutheran, Roman Catholic, and Hebrew, 6.

Dr. Steven Dilday holds a BA in Religion and Philosophy from Campbell University, a Master of Arts in Religion from Westminster Theological Seminary (Philadelphia), and both a Master of Divinity and a  Ph.D. in Puritan History and Literature from Whitefield Theological Seminary.  He is also the translator of Matthew Poole's Synopsis of Biblical Interpreters and Bernardinus De Moor’s Didactico-Elenctic Theology.
