Now, the book embraces the matters conducted through forty years and six months. The kingdom of David evidently is summed up in just so many years, as it is sufficiently evident out of 2 Samuel 5:5, in which it is said that he reigned in Hebron over Judah for seven years and six months, and in Jerusalem over all Israel and Judah for thirty-three years.

Dr. Steven Dilday holds a BA in Religion and Philosophy from Campbell University, a Master of Arts in Religion from Westminster Theological Seminary (Philadelphia), and both a Master of Divinity and a  Ph.D. in Puritan History and Literature from Whitefield Theological Seminary.  He is also the translator of Matthew Poole's Synopsis of Biblical Interpreters and Bernardinus De Moor’s Didactico-Elenctic Theology.
