1. The inscription of the book.

The Book is inscribed τὸ κατὰ Ἰωάννην Εὐαγγέλιον, the Gospel according to John. Concerning which the same thing is to be concluded as concerning the similar inscription on the other Gospels. Namely, the Evangelical history written by John is indicated.
