The author, נַחוּם/Nahum.  An account of his name.  Why is he called an Elkoshite? 1.  The argument of the Prophecy.  It contains diplomatic letters to be sent to Sennacherib, 2.  The scope of the Prophecy, 3.  An account of the time in which he prophesied is sought out, 4.  The result of the Prophecy, 5.  It has two parts:  I.  The judgment of God against Nineveh (Nahum 1; 2).  II.  Reasons for the destruction of Nineveh (Nahum 3).  A Synoptic Table of the book, and its Interpreters, Ancient, Reformed, Lutheran, Roman Catholic, 6.

Dr. Steven Dilday holds a BA in Religion and Philosophy from Campbell University, a Master of Arts in Religion from Westminster Theological Seminary (Philadelphia), and both a Master of Divinity and a  Ph.D. in Puritan History and Literature from Whitefield Theological Seminary.  He is also the translator of Matthew Poole's Synopsis of Biblical Interpreters and Bernardinus De Moor’s Didactico-Elenctic Theology.
