The author of the Prophecy is עֹבַדְיָה/Obadiah, the servant of the Lord. Was he a prefect of Ahab, an Idumean Proselyte? The traditions of the Jews concerning this are uncertain, 1. Edom, to whom the Prophecy is directed, who was he? The Argument of the Prophecy, 2. There are two parts: I. The Preface (Obadiah 1). II. The Prophecy, wherein is described both the judgment of God against Edom, and all nations, and also the grace of God towards His elect people (Obadiah 2-21).
