The seventh seal opened, 1. Seven angels receive seven trumpets, 2. An angel presenteth the prayers of the saints with incense on the golden altar before the throne, 3-5. Four of the angels sound their trumpets, and great plagues severally follow, 6-13.

Most expositors agree that the seven seals represent the interval between the apostle's time and the reign of Constantine, but that the seven trumpets are designed to represent the rise of antichrist, some time after the empire became Christian.
